A Father's Wise Instruction

I just have some quick thoughts on what I read this week. I read from proverbs 4 to 7. I usually read a chapter every day but this week I got decided to spend more time on a couple of chapters. The main one that I really enjoyed was chapter 4 titled “A Father’s Wise Instruction”. Honestly, I had a lot of questions about this chapter. Throughout the chapter, a father is talking to his son and his main point is for him to get wisdom. One of the first questions I had, when I read that, was “what is wisdom in this context?” In the chapters later it describes what wisdom looks like but this was an initial question that I had.
A few verses that stood out to me were 3 and 4. They say “When I was a son with my father, tender, the only one in the sight of my mother, he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words, keep my commandments, and live.” This stood out to me because I realized that whatever wisdom he’s giving to his son has proven itself to be true. After all, it has been passed down from generation to generation. Throughout the chapter, he uses words like instruction, insight, precepts, and teaching. I think these paint a beautiful picture of what wisdom is and give some understanding.
Proverbs is pretty interesting and I’ve only read the first 7 chapters so I’m excited to see what more God has to offer.
